Regulatory bodies require manufacturers to provide accurate and traceable information from every step of the product’s cycle. This evidence proves that the medical device meets its intended purpose and is safe for patient use. Metrology is fundamental in gathering evidence that the medical device meets safety and performance requirements for the patient, so manufacturers should prioritise developing an effective quality management system when producing new devices.
