Sealed supercapacitors are suitable for intrinsically safe applications

Korean supercapacitor specialist VINATech has launched a series of high-density moulded supercapacitor modules.

This new EDLC series offers a range of 5V,5.4V and 6V supercapacitors in a sealed epoxy moulded format. This product development brings added advantages to the VINATech EDLC module range by avoiding issues of high humidity and the potential for shorting, which makes this series more attractive for intrinsically safe applications.

The new E series product is suitable for wave soldering and is currently available in 0.5 Farad, 1.5 Farad and 5 Farad options. The 6V series utilises the VINATech patented 3V series, enabling extended working life. These components will work at temperatures of up to 85°C at a de-rated voltage of 2.3V.

The new RoHS compliant E series is ideally suited for short term peak power assist applications, for fast charge, last gasp and battery back up in telematics and IoT applications. This new series is available now for product development.

VINATech’s main ISO-14001 EDLC production centre in Jeon-ju City, South Korea and has recently achieved ISO-TS16949 automotive accreditation.
