Waterproofing scheme used for railways

A waterproofing project covering 2.5km of new railway track for the East London Line reconstruction and refurbishment programme has been successfully completed, using plastic welding machines from Welwyn Tool Group.

Waterseal Ltd selected Leister Twinny 'S' automatic welding machines to weld together 29,000sq/m of a robust polypropylene-based membrane material, for waterproofing renovated Victorian railway viaducts (stretching from Bishopsgate to Dalston in East London). The work - part of the programme's £40m 'Stage Two Enabling' phase - has involved the reconstruction of ten bridges and the refurbishment of eleven others.
