Gearbox offers precision, high efficiency and long life

Premium Stephan is a long term supplier of high-precision, backlash-free customised gearboxes to leading robotic manufacturers. New to the market is the company's MELIOR MOTION planetary gearbox with a patented gear profile that ensures almost backlash-free operation (<0.6 arcmin) over the lifetime of the gearbox. This level of performance is necessary for applications such as precision robotics and positioning equipment, tool changers and many other applications where accuracy is paramount.

Multiple simultaneous tooth contact (sun gear, planet gears and hollow gear) ensures high performance, while an efficiency of >95 percent and a very low breaking moment provide outstanding energy efficiency, low heat generation and long life.

The low heat generation allows the use of standard mineral oils, and minimises wear of radial shaft seals. A full-load lifetime of 20,000 hours has been verified in tests - much longer than that of conventional precision gearboxes.

MELIOR MOTION is available in seven sizes and various ratios up to i=200, and each size can be supplied in either hollow or solid shaft versions. All gearboxes have a very high tilting and torsional stiffness capability and operate with low noise levels. The gearbox offers high capacities, high acceleration capability and high emergency stop torque, despite its compact size.
