Zorbing is the new adventure activity that enables you to roll down hills safely - even if it is a 'little' bumpy and sometimes wet.
Imagine being cocooned in a double-skinned inflated ball traveling down a steep hill, whilst cushioned safely from the bumps and bounces the ball experiences on its journey to the bottom of the slope.
This is possible resulting from the protection provided by the air cushioning that is central to the successful design of the Zorb. And it can be enjoyed just outside Dorchester through Zorb South UK.
A key facet to the success of Zorbing is ensuring the correct level of inflation at all times. Helping Zorb South to achieve this is a ‘MultiStage’ blower from Air Control Industries of Chard.
Before every trip downhill, each Zorb is checked and inflated as necessary using the ACI MultiStage, to ensure a safe, fun ride.
Prior to adopting the ACI blower, Zorb South used a leaf-blower but it was noisy and difficult to use, particularly inconvenient when close to customers.
To improve upon this situation, Paul Knight, owner of Zorb South, contacted ACI and visited the company’s factory in Chard where he discussed his specific needs with Angus Low who has over 40 years experience in the design and application of fans and blowers. The result was specification of a 2MS11 blower that can be used for both inflation and deflation of the Zorbs.
“My requirements were understood immediately,” says Paul Knight, “and the solution offered has met all our needs. It’s quiet, it’s efficient and its electricity demands fall within the power limitations of our on-site generator.”
ACI’s 2MS11 blower with backward curved blades is designed to deliver air at a high pressure yet consume the minimal amount of power. It is a single phase unit driven by a 2-pole motor with the impeller mounted directly on the shaft, a design that ensures maximum efficiency and quiet operation.
