WERMA’s WIN now connects directly to a corporate network

Machine and workstation monitoring products from WERMA such as the Wireless Information Network (WIN) system has hitherto required a host PC. A new Ethernet master/receiver unit allows you to bypass the PC and connect directly to a corporate network.

WIN is easy to install or retrofit. And without the need for hard wiring and cabling, the system enables even remote areas to be monitored with ease. A signal tower serves as the interface, to which a transmitter unit is fitted to transmit status changes to a receiver. The status change data from all transmitters is collected safely and stored in SQL.

New Ethernet master/receiver unit
The new master/receiver is available as an option to the USB Receiver unit and offers a simple advantage over the traditional receiver.

The traditional USB WIN master required a host PC for it to operate, which isn’t always convenient. If a customer wants to install the software on their Server, this may be physically too remote from the slaves to get a reliable signal. In situations where the number of slaves is high or the site geography makes it impossible to get adequate coverage with one Master, additional Masters can be added but they have always required a PC.

The new Ethernet Master removes this need by connecting directly to the corporate network. It is identified on the network by an IP address and can be physically sited anywhere with an Ethernet connection (and a mains socket for power). The software can be run on the server, with users connected as clients.

You can have a mix of USB and Ethernet masters on the network so, for example, you could extend an installation to a machine shop in another building by adding an Ethernet master and hooking up the new slaves to it.
