The XtraDrive servo series is designed to address machine builders’ demands for faster response, higher accuracy and exceptional reliability. Its design is based upon having the position controller built into the servo driver, delivering a simplified solution offering cost savings.
The XtraDrive series from Omron offers all the benefits of servo technology combined with an easily programmable position controller. Available in numerous formats, the first offers a standard servo drive and position controller combined, the second adding Profibus connectivity allowing information to be easily shared with other areas within the system. Both versions also offer the option of including an electronic cam or E-cam functionality built in.
All products in the XtraDrive servo series use enhanced control algorithms to provide tight servo control, delivering near zero settling time or tracking error. These algorithms are handled automatically within the drive, requiring no expert knowledge on the part of the user. XtraDrive is suitable for use in a host of applications ranging from pick and place and insertion machines through to labelling.
The programming environment for XtraDrive is delivered by XtraWare software, programmed in a form of BASIC which is familiar to many engineers. This provides access not only to simple position control tasks, but also more complex functions including master-slave and e-cam.
As well as controlling Omron servo motors, the XtraDrive can be set to control servo motors from virtually any other supplier, provided certain basic information is known. In addition, Omron linear motors can also be controlled via XtraDrive. To provide the user with a simple to use operator interface, an Omron NT3S human machine interface (HMI) can be connected to the XtraDrive.
The XtraDrive series are available with ratings from 30W to 1500W in single-phase input and up to 5KW in three-phase input form.
