Drives for decentralised control systems
Danfoss has introduced the Decentral FCD 300 ac drive, a totally enclosed
VLT frequency converter for mounting close to, or on the drive motor in
decentralised motor control applications such as conveyors. Initially
sized for applications up to 3kW, the IP66 protected drive is housed in a
robust die-cast case with anti-corrosion finish, ideal for food and
beverage processing plants where equipment is subject to frequent
chemical wash down.
The two-part construction segregates control and power cables, the former
having its own section, which can be de-mounted via four screws. The
control section can also be powered up on the bench for offline
commissioning without mains connection. Profibus, AS-i and RS485 fieldbus
networking is provided, in addition to standard analogue control signals.
