igus makes significant investment in plain bearings

Following significant investment, igus now offers 16 different tribopolymer materials in standard DIN ISO 3547-1 dimensions up to diameters of 50mm. This amounts to over 13,000 plain bearings, available for delivery from stock, within 24 hours.

The materials include high-tech polymer iglidur Q2 for heavy loads and iglidur Z for extreme environments, as well as three FDA-suitable materials. Frequently used materials, such as iglidur G, J, W300, X and M250, are already available from stock in standard diameters up to 150mm.

In order to determine the optimum bearing for a given application, igus offers the ‘expert system’ online bearing lifetime calculation tool. After the application parameters and dimensions of the bearing have been entered, the system lists the most appropriate products with their prices. The service life is calculated and the results are given for every material.
