Military Simulation Maximises Realism With 3D

Systems Engineering & Assessment has completed a series of simulations (Project Vitesse) of the variants of a larger, new generation aircraft carrier, which will replace the Royal Navy's Invincible class ships, from 2012. One of the simulations uses Delmia's Envision as a platform for what is believed to be one of the most complex, intelligent, fully interactive simulations ever undertaken. The spectators wore stereo eyeglasses and the simulation was given a 3D effect courtesy of a wide screen projection system rendering the simulation in stereo. Three people were needed to run the simulation. Using Distributed Interactive Simulation the three simulations were linked together and operated interactively in real-time.
