Delcam's PowerSHAPE hybrid modelling software has a new module that helps
designers of plastic injection moulds to produce complex tooling
assemblies more quickly and efficiently. At the heart of PS-Moldmaker is
'Die Wizard', a function that automatically finds the split line of the
product model and proposes two die blocks of suitable size. It then
creates split and run-off surfaces to form the two die halves and
dynamically separates the cavity, with the split surface, from the die
blocks. The software filters the range of possible components needed to
complete the assembly and suggests appropriate sizes. Each new component
is subsequently aligned in the correct position.
