Eye Spyraflo, a look at bearing applications

In its quest to assist a manufacturer in keeping things taped, our colleagues in the USA helped Marsh Shipping Supplies Co., LLC recently launch the TD 2100 Electric Taper. The machine, which Marsh states is the most effective and efficient tape dispenser they have ever produced, is used to accurately, but effortlessly dispense predetermined lengths of gummed paper tape. Key to their innovative design is the high coefficient of friction urethane wide-track feed and pinch rollers. Alignment of these rolls and other shafts in the mechanism was very critical, as they had to ensure smooth, quiet and efficient operation. They wanted an elegant but rugged all metal construction and it became very apparent to the designers that bearings which could be easily mounted in sheet steel and offer self-alignment would be the ideal solution. They decided after trials of other methods to use self-clinching, self-aligning, Delrin bearings. To meet their needs the Spyraflo FSD-625 and FSD-375-AF bearings are used throughout the machine. An additional benefit of their selection was the cost saving through low component needs (no bearing blocks or fixings) and easy assembly.
