Contactless angle sensor range adds multi-turn capability

Contelec has introduced two multi-turn versions of its robust Vert-X series contactless Hall-Effect angle sensors, which are available exclusively in the UK from Variohm EuroSensor.

The sensors are the Vert-X 37MT CANopen which has a gearless 16-bit multi-turn and 16-bit single-turn resolution and the low cost Vert-X 24MT, which may be programmed for up to 10 turns and has a 12-bit single-turn resolution.

The Vert-X 37MT CANopen model offers users a practically unlimited rotation count through a gearless, battery powered, multi-turn multiplier and has the added benefit of exceptional angular precision through its 16-bit single-turn absolute resolution. Linearity is +/- 0.1% and repeatability and hysteresis is 0.1º. Other features include IP68 protection, dual bearings and a stainless steel housing.

The contactless multi-turn Vert-X 24MT is aimed at angle measurement where absolute position monitoring is required over just a few revolutions. The compact unit offers IP54/IP67 protection  and 12-bit resolution.

Both models, being magnetic-hall non-contact devices, offer resistance to shock and vibration as well as long life – 50 million turns for the 24MT and 360 million turns for the 37MT, which also has a 3,000rpm maximum speed and high axial and radial load capability.

Also new from Variohm is an inclinometer aimed at demanding applications in structural monitoring such as wind and solar energy platforms, antenna, tower and vessel construction, and large-scale engineering projects. Available in single or dual axis versions with CANopen or 4-20mA current-output, the SST20 is offered in a wide choice of measurement ranges from +/-5º to full 0-360º.

Measuring just 82 x 60 x 22.5 mm, the sensor suits horizontal, vertical and headstand mounting and is housed in durable cast aluminium with a full epoxy seal for IP67 protection. Its high resilience to shock and vibration, wide temperature range and submersible capability will meet the most arduous environmental conditions whilst an MTBF of ten years reinforces long term reliability.
