Busch heads for the North Sea

Congleton based Busch GVT has supplied specialist vacuum pump equipment to a leading offshore oil operator, CNR International (UK) Limited (CNR).A total of three Busch Dolphin liquid ring vacuum pumps, made from special ‘Super Duplex’ material, have been supplied to the Ninian North, Central and South oil platforms which are located in the North Sea and operated by CNR. The pumps have replaced existing vacuum equipment, including old GVT products, which were installed more than 15 years ago. Using vacuum technology, the pumps remove oxygen from pressurised seawater which is then used to push crude oil from beneath the seabed up to the platform. Matthew White, sales director for Busch GVT, said: “We worked very closely with CNR on the specification, design and manufacture of these special version Dolphin liquid ring pumps. A site survey was carried out by our highly qualified commissioning engineers to ascertain the customer’s requirements and the pumps were completed more than four weeks ahead of the deadline.” Keith Dunnett, rotating equipment engineer for CNR, said: “We were pleased with how the existing Busch GVT pumps had performed over the years and were keen to work with them again when we were looking to upgrade and replace this specialised vacuum equipment. “The quality of the products along with the expertise and support provided from the engineers has been excellent and the whole development process ran very smoothly from start to finish.”
