Gear bearing unit offers advantages for truck OEMs

SKF's new Gear Bearing unit offers higher load carrying capacity and power take-off torque, enabling truck OEMs to offer even greater efficiencies to their customers.

The assembly is ready to use, easy to install and interchangeable with current units. It includes a roller bearing, as opposed to a plain bearing, which offers several benefits, including significantly increased power density and a reduction of oil flow and hence oil pump size.

Plain bearings require a separate oil supply, which must also be pressurised for lubrication; SKF's Gear Bearing Unit, however, requires only oil mist lubrication, so optimised oil metering is all that is needed.
