Triax accelerometer with integral signal conditioning weighs just 4g

Kistler Instruments has managed to pack a 1,000g triaxial capability with integrated signal conditioning into a miniature, titanium cube accelerometer weighing less than 4g.

The PiezoStar family of accelerometers has exceptionally low thermal sensitivity shift combined with a flat frequency response across the entire 0.5 to 10,000Hz frequency range.

The unit retains high measurement accuracy over the temperature range from -54°C to 165°C, thanks to its PiezoStar shear crystal sensing element, which achieves much lower sensitivity variation compared with quartz or ceramic sensing elements.

The hermitically sealed, welded titanium, ground isolated, IP68 housing permits operation in harsh, dirty or wet environments. A TEDS (Transducer Electronics Data Sheet) option is available to simplify installation and set-up.

Mounting by a central mounting hole tapped 6-32 UNC on each of three sides of the cube design gives maximum adapter-less mounting flexibility and allows the miniature 4-pin ceramic connector to be positioned throughout 360 degrees for convenient cable orientation.

The new accelerometer can be powered by any Kistler power supply coupler or industry standard IEPE (Integrated Electronic Piezoelectric) compatible power source.
