Reduced wiring for openSAFETY control systems
New openSAFETY control panels from B&R allow safe data exchange over a bus system. The integrated openSAFETY interface renders the hard wiring of E-stop, operating mode and start buttons obsolete.

Wiring openSAFETY control panels requires only a bus and power connection - no more unwieldy cable harnesses, says B&R Industrial Automation. Commissioning and service are also simplified, as a result. And safety devices connected over the network operate just as reliably as their hard-wired counterparts.

These control panels are available in a wide range of configurations, allowing them to be tailored to any application. In addition to different display sizes, it is also possible to choose between various touch technologies. The control panels are available in housings rated up to IP65, and switch configurations can be configured according to client/industry needs.

Offering a power density of 4A/litre of space, this system offers a sampling time of just 50µs for current, speed and position control, opening up new possibilities for virtual sensor technology.

A virtual motor position encoder does away with the need for an encoder, encoder cable and evaluation unit in the servo drive while increasing availability at the same time. Other special functions for more precise control and faster reactions – repetitive control, for example – can be implemented using virtual sensor technology for the entire controller cascade.
Space requirements reduced by 69%

Safety functions are SIL3/PLe compliant and can be integrated upon request. Safely Limited Torque (SLT) and Remanent Safe Position (RSP) functions are new to the ACOPOS model series. And there is a total of 14 safe motion functions based on the openSAFETY standard.
