A new general-purpose clinch fastener – the URN nut – is the latest addition to the range of rivet nuts available from pierce assembly specialist Profil UK. Offering a fast and reliable method of mounting M6 steel threads in sheet metal components up to 1.9 mm thick, the new fastener is highly cost-effective for applications requiring good dynamic, static and impact load performance in light gauge materials.
Featuring a universal rectangular nut with a circular cross section shank, the new URN nut offers an optimum balance between cost and ultimate mechanical performance. Thanks to its novel manufacturing process, this rivet fastener achieves push out, torque and shear load capabilities superior to traditional pierce or rivet nuts, but at a significantly lower cost. As a result, the new variant is an ideal choice for general fastening applications across a broad spectrum of sheet metal working applications.
URN nuts can be installed in stand-alone riveting operations or – by using custom-developed, automatic feeding and setting equipment – in-press as part of the component manufacturing process.
