Busch helps make the news

A leading international print manufacturer has been supplied with equipment by Telford based vacuum pump and blower manufacturer Busch (UK). Muller Martini Great Britain (MMGB), the UK subsidiary of the Swiss Muller Martini group, recently won an order to supply a printing works with its new NewsLiner-A Inserting System. This machine requires a vacuum for operation and Busch was commissioned to provide a specialist solution.

The bespoke construction consisted of four Busch R 5 0305 pumps, a control with vacuum pump cascade and a centralised vacuum pipework system.

The Busch R 5 vacuum pump series has been designed for extended, reliable industrial services.

Mark Hawkins, project manager at Muller Martini said “The new system provides a vacuum on demand which is easier to maintain than individual pumps and removes noise and heat from the working environment. The result means we are more environmentally friendly while at the same time being cost effective.”

Established more than 60 years ago, the Muller Martini group manufactures, markets and services a full range of post-press finishing equipment for commercial printers, binderies, digital book manufacturers and newspaper plants, as well as web offset presses. Employing more than 4000 people worldwide, its UK subsidiary is based in Iver, Buckinghamshire.

The R 5 0305 D is an oil-lubricated rotary vane vacuum pumps designed for use in the field of rough vacuum. Busch says it achieves high ultimate pressures and can still be used at rough operating pressures in the complete pressure range between 0.1 h Pa (mbar) and atmospheric pressure. They are compact, low maintenance and are quiet during operation.
