Danfoss VLT Micro Drive – the little drive that thinks big.

Danfoss' new VLT Micro Drive is derived from the company's VLT AutomationDrive, but whereas low power drives are usually cost-reduced versions of their larger cousins, the VLT Micro Drive offers a high level of what Danfoss calls Performance Density, suiting it for all general purpose drives applications at a highly competitive price. Offered in single- and three-phase versions, covering the range from 0.18kW to 7.5kW in three frame sizes, the Micro Drive offers a wide range of the performance features shared by Danfoss’ larger drives. The result is a high quality, high performance Danfoss VLT plug-and-play inverter drive designed for high reliability and user friendliness, which even shares the terminal numbering system adopted across the full VLT range and a hot-pluggable intelligent control and display panel.

Despite its compact dimensions (the smallest frame size measures only 150mm x 70mm and 148mm deep), the Micro Drive is packed with large drive features, including RS 485 FC-bus and Modbus RTU communications facilities, Smart Logic controller, in-built ac and dc braking and automatic motor adaptation.

Energy efficiency too has been addressed and as a result of intelligent heat management and an innovative heat sink design, the Micro Drive offers 98% efficiency and a 50oC ambient temperature operating capability. True side-by-side mounting capability minimises control cabinet space requirements while coated PCBs extend the drive reliability and lifetime. As with all VLT drives, the Micro Drive is manufactured in line with the requirements of the WEEE directive and full RFI and RoHS compliance is standard.
