Schneider Electric has launched the first products in a major new push into the motion control arena with the unveiling of its entry level Telemecanique Lexium 05 servo drives. The range has 13 models, covering capacities from 0.4kW up to 6kW with motor speeds up to 6000 rev/min. This new drive is simple to install with automatic tuning; simple to programme, thanks to menu driven commands; and consequently it is simple to use.
The Lexium 05 has industry standard interfaces, such as CANopen, to enable it to be linked with other controls. Coupled with the Telemecanique BSH low inertia servo motors, the Lexium 05 provides a powerful general purpose drive solution for point to point positioning, torque or speed regulation, electronic shaft, and manual jog functions.
Featuring a “Simply Start” approach, the Lexium 05 uses the company’s well known Telemecanique PowerSuite software for easy set up and configuration. The motor is automatically recognised by the drive when connected. Then once coupled up to the load, the auto-tune function can be used for optimising the drive parameters for that axis.
For ease of installation and to save space the Lexium 05 comes with an integral EMC filter within the same footprint, rated to level A for conducted and radiated fields. It is also DIN rail mounted with spring terminals for speedy connection. A Tüv certified, “Power Removal” safety feature is the encorporated that prevents unintentional machine starting after power loss.
Pursuing its “open connectivity” policy, Schneider Electric has ensured the Lexium 05 supports CANopen as standard enabling ready integration with high speed data exchange and the ability to link directly to industrial control systems. A Profibus DP version is also available and all drives have a Modbus serial link.
Voltage range is from 115 V to 480 V, while the BSH motors have nominal torque of 0.5 to 36 Nm and nominal speed of 1250 to 6000 rev/min. Two ±10V analogue outputs are provided with 14-bit resolution, as is an RS422 incremental encoder interface.
