Miniature actuators for opto-mechanical adjustment in vacuum

PI adds two vacuum compatible versions to its compact N-470 PiezoMike linear actuator product line for both high and ultra-high vacuum applications.

The N-470.V (high vacuum) and N-470.U (ultra-high vacuum) actuators are based on a cost-effective inertia drive (Stick-Slip). When at rest, the drive is self-locking and therefore requires no electric power and also generates no heat. It holds the position with a maximum force of 100N.

For stable alignment of optical paths it is critical to provide excellent long-term positioning stability. The PiezoMike design provides this stability for long periods with reliable start-up even after longer downtimes. High holding force and resolution are achieved by combining piezo actuators with a mechanical rotation/thread translation.

PI can also supply several OEM and bench top controllers for its stick-slip piezo motors. Versions with USB interface include host software and LabVIEW drivers. For more information on these E-870 series controllers, click here.
