Analogue input modules for building automation applications

Carlo Gavazzi has enhanced its Dupline bus offering for building automation, with the introduction of new SHPINNI2 and SHPINA224 decentralised analogue input modules.

These modules enable control systems to interface with environmental sensors in smart building systems that use any type of environmental sensor with a 0/4-20mA or NI/PT1000 output.

Typically, these addressable devices are installed behind the environmental sensor and wired by simply looping the 2-wire bus cable from sensor to sensor. Many sensors can be networked together in this way back to the SB2WEB24 Dupline BACnet Gateway/Controller, where all the sensor information is available to the BMS via BACnet over IP or Modbus TCP/IP connection.

SHPINNI2 is a bus powered 2 x Ni1000/Pt1000 input module with input types (Ni1000 or Pt1000) individually selectable. The SHPINA224 is a dc powered input module with 2 x 0-20mA/4-20mA inputs, these are selectable between input type 0-20mA or 4-20mA. 

Both modules are a compact size making it suitable to fit in a wall box or small junction box, thereby enabling a decentralized installation concept. The Dupline bus wiring topology is completely free, which means the installation can be carried out using the lowest cost route rather than just multi dropping from sensor to sensor.

A simple unscreened 2-core bus cable is all that is required to make the Dupline connection; a 4-core cable can be used to transmit the power around with the Dupline bus should it be needed to power environmental sensors.
