Ready-to-connect 10kW liquid cooling from Rittal

To support existing air-conditioning systems, Rittal is now offering liquid-based cooling systems for retrofitting on server racks. Based on air-to-water heat exchanger technology, the new Liquid Cooling Package (LCP) Extend solves the problem of high heat losses of up to 10kW per rack. Rittal’s LCP Extend can be attached as an independent cooling unit to the rear door of virtually any rack, while the rack is in operation and without having to modify any existing series of enclosures.

Ready-to-connect, the new Rittal LCP Extend cooling unit has the outer form of a climate control door and two heat exchanger modules, which are fitted in the inside of the cooling unit, at middle and upper enclosure height, ensuring an even cooling over the entire rack.

Dissipated towards the rear by the servers, the hot air is forced through the air-to-water heat exchanger by fans and then expelled. A connection to a circulatory cooling-water supply e.g. via an external re-cooling system, is necessary before the LCP unit is installed. The water supply to the LCP cooling unit may be either from the top or the bottom.
