Three new products from HBM

HBM has released three new products: a DIAdem driver for test bench measurement applications; a new piezoelectric charge amplifier, and upgraded versions of its U9C and C9C miniature force transducers.

Data acquired using HBM’s range of DAQ products, such as QuantumX, can now also be viewed and manipulated using HBM’s driver for DIAdem software increasing the flexibility of measurement tasks in the test bench sector.

Using the DIAdem driver facilitates integration with alternative software while retaining the flexibility to use catman, HBM’s dedicated software. High precision and flexible measurement data acquisition systems are extremely important for test benches in various function groups especially in the automotive sector.

HBM’s modular data acquisition system QuantumX offers measurement accuracy of 0.05 percent and high flexibility in tests with changing measured quantities. The QuantumX MX840A module, for example, supports twelve different sensor types without needing an adapter. HBM’s MGCplus data acquisition system also supports DIAdem software for laboratory applications with an even higher measurement accuracy of 0.0025 percent.

Piezoelectric charge amplifier
Also new, HBM’s latest PACEline CMA5000/2 piezoelectric charge amplifier has a measuring range of 5,000,000 pC making it ideal for safe and reliable measurement of large forces above 1MN - although smaller forces in partial areas can also be measured rapidly and precisely.

The charge amplifier ensures secure measurement acquisition with piezoelectric force transducers using signal conditioning on analogue standard signals ±10V. The device is particularly useful where there is very little space available such as in test technology, assembly monitoring and function testing, or where measurement objects display high rigidity.

The CMA5000/2 features two calibrated measuring ranges over 100 percent and 20 percent of the nominal (rated) force enabling users to check obtained a detailed examination of overload-critical sections in addition to securely measuring partial load areas. The overall measurement range can be increased without additional components such as summing boxes or measurement cables.

The PACEline CMA5000/2 is fitted with two parallel-switched inputs for piezoelectric sensors providing additional flexibility and an excellent price/performance ratio. The CMA amplifier has IP65 protection for use in both challenging industrial environments and in laboratory applications. TEDS functionality is integrated enabling the charge amplifier to be immediately recognized and made operational quickly, securely and rapidly.

Miniature force transducers
Meanwhile, the company has introduced upgraded versions of its U9C and C9C miniature force transducers that are individually configurable and offer high measurement accuracy making them suitable for many different applications. These range from dynamic tests and production tasks through to static testing of many different types of equipment such as determining the contact forces in ultrasonic welding, the calibration of hardness testing machines and testing Bowden cables.

The U9C is designed for tensile and compressive loadingwhile the C9C is intended for compressive forces. There are numerous options available for each of the force transducers ensuring their suitability for a variety of measurement tasks. The cable length and connector type can be individually selected while the connectors can be equipped with an optional TEDS chip for storing sensor data. This facility ensures that the amplifier is automatically set up when it is connected with a transducer.

The transducers are hermetically welded and have IP67 degree of protection as standard. They feature an accuracy class of 0.2 that is a significant optimization compared with the previous version and other similar transducers. Each of the models is available in ten measurement ranges from 50N to 50kN.

The U9C and C9C transducers are electrically and mechanically compatible with previous versions and are designed to be particularly compact to facilitate integration into existing applications.
