Oriental's brushless dc motors range is expanded to 400W

With its new BLV series, Oriental Motor can now offer a motor covering the range from 200 to 400W, powered from a 24Vdc or 48Vdc power supply.

The speed range and ratio of the new series are 80-4,000rpm and 1:50 respectively - making it suitable for applications that require a broad range of regulated speeds. A compact motor for this power range (frame sizes are 104mm), the series can also be used for vertical movements, thanks to an optional electromagnetic brake.

Even when used in combination with a hollow shaft flat gear system, the BLV retains its space-saving characteristics. Alternatively, a proven spur gear system is also available for use with this series.

The BLV can be controlled via an I/O module, which is available from the Oriental accessories programme, or via an RS485 interface. With the I/O module, parameters such as rotational direction are easily programmed.

The RS-485 interface is suitable for more complex control schemes. In this case, a programmable output stage connects individual motors and also synchronises multi-axial movements. Parameters stored via this interface include motor speed and acceleration.
