The icotek KDR split base plate range is now available in the UK exclusively from M Buttkereit. The patent-pending system constitutes a two-part base plate with pre-fabricated cut-outs ready to accept icotek’s KEL and Jumbo cable entry systems. The system speeds and simplifies cabling-up of equipment, making it ideal for use by system integrators, control panel builders, machine builders and electrical installation companies across many UK industries, including automotive and construction.
The innovative design of the KDR split base plate ensures that during assembly almost the entire base of the enclosure is utilised for cable installation and sealing – even large connectors can be fitted with ease. The system ensures that the user is able to concentrate on the assembly task in hand rather than time consuming sheet metal work. As the base plate is built around pre-wired KEL or Jumbo glands for top, bottom, side or front entry of electrical enclosures, retrofitting or modification tasks can quickly be completed without any cable disconnection or loss of production time.
Once the cable entry frames have been assembled in the control or switch cabinet, the separate metal plate halves are simply pushed together, maintaining the system’s IP54 rating. For added ease, fastening the cable entry frames also tightens both parts of the split base plate, while all fixing holes are equipped with clinch nuts. No additional components are required for installation of cables and/or hoses. The black or grey grommets pre-assembled in the entry frames on the KDR provide strain relief of the cables, providing the grommets have been correctly matched to the cable diameters.
The KDR split base plate is available to suit all types of widely used enclosures, including Rittal TS8 (600-1200mm wide variants). Depending on configuration, the number of cable entries possible using KDR varies from 1-5, although the subsequent alteration of the number or diameter of cables or hoses is straightforward and quick.
The icotek KDR system leads its sector for pre-fabricated cable entry technology. With safety in mind, KDR has been designed to offer IP54 protection, a flammability rating of UL 94 VO (self-extinguishing) and is free of halogen and silicone. The system also offers high chemical resistance and is suitable for operation in temperatures ranging from -20° to +100°C.
