Transducer gives high-precision measurement of torque, rotational speed and angle, power, and temperature

HBM’s latest T12 digital torque transducer integrates high precision measurement and analysis tools – such as monitoring and diagnosis functions – for the automotive industry. The device measures torque, rotational speed and angle, power, and temperature with high precision. All measurement signal conditioning is fully integrated in the transducer to greatly increase the quality of the signal and reduce measurement uncertainty. The T12 combines the flexibility of digital signal processing with high measurement accuracy and a large measurement frequency range. The torque transducer’s accuracy is proven by the fieldbus specification of the torque signal and the frequency output:

 Linearity deviation including hysteresis: ±0.02 %, optional ±0.01 %
 Relative standard deviation of reproducibility: ±0.01 %
 Temperature effect on the sensitivity: ±0.03 % / 10 K
 Temperature effect on the zero signal: ±0.02 % / 10 K, optional ±0.01 % / 10 K

The T12 provides a large measurement frequency range from 0 to 6000 Hz (-3dB) enabling highly dynamic test benches and measurements to be simulated. Since the resolution of torque measurement effectively reaches the physical limits of strain gauge technology, switching of measurement ranges is not required. Internal aliasing is prevented by the high sampling rate. CAN parameterization and the T12 Assistant control software ensures easy maintenance and use.
