B&R introduces premium IP65-rated helical gearboxes

B&R has added two helical versions to its premium family of gearboxes: the 8GP70 series with a shaft output and the 8GF70 series with a drive flange.

B&R premium gearboxes offer minimal backlash with an option available for reducing it further (to less than 1 arcminute). The ability of this premium series of gearboxes to handle high axial and radial forces, their high power density and their IP65 rating mean that they can be used in an extremely wide range of applications.

The gearboxes are suitable for applications requiring smooth operation, synchronicity and low excitation frequencies. They are offered with either a standard shaft or flange output and both of these new gearboxes are available in five different sizes and a range of gear ratios.

Also new from B&R is reACTION technology, which enables a reduction in response times in industrial automation applications (packaging in particular) down to just 1µs. This new approach allows extremely time-critical sub-processes to be managed using standard hardware – all within the requirements of IEC 61131 – while cutting costs by reducing the load on the controller and optimising performance to match high-end packaging machine demands. The result is an increase in performance without added costs.

High-speed packaging machine functions like code stamping and bad product rejection can combine B&R's reACTION and NetTime technologies to synchronize motion control and distributed I/O to improve precision.

Digital output patterns can be controlled with a resolution of 125ns, and fast input edges such as registration marks or product detection can be recorded with a timestamp of 1µs.
