TFC focuses on a new market

TFC recently provided a solution for Grandeye, a leading manufacturer of solid state, intelligent 360 degree CCTV cameras. When the company needed a spring for the focussing mechanism of its Halocam 360° security camera it turned to TFC. Brian Goode, Technical Director of TFC, explained Grandeye’s requirements. “Grandeye wanted a spring which collapsed down to a very shallow height, to fit into an existing product with minimal design changes. Our Smalley Preload spring was integral to the design of the focus mechanism.”

The spring is positioned within the focus mechanism to preload the components and eliminate tolerance build up caused by a screw thread. This dramatically reduced installation time while improving the setup procedure for the camera.

TFC’s solution to use a Preload spring solved Grandeye’s design issues. Michael Kirsch, vice president of industrial design at Grandeye commented on TFC’s prompt response. “We needed our initial batch of Halocams ready for the market quickly, and TFC came up with a solution that worked perfectly and met our time frame.”
