New high-performance drives for plant and machinery

The new class leading drive from Mitsubishi Electric is suitable for high end applications that demand maximum output and performance, increased efficiency and reliability.

The FR-A800 series builds on, and will eventually replace, the FR-A700 series. It complies with international regulations and standards and is equipped with the very latest safety functionality. It is available with outputs ranging from 750W to 1MW.

The drive is compatible with standard asynchronous motors and IPM/SPM motor technology, and has the benefit of an intelligent autotune function. A powerful built in PLC, based on Mitsubishi's L Series, and built in positioning function further enhance the drive's flexibility.

USB host and USB device functions are provided for programming and parameterisation as well as data logging. The drive is also fully integrated into Mitsubishi Electric's iQ Works programming environment.

Sensorless and full vector control maximises speed and torque accuracy, and an overload capability of 250 percent is available during the start-up phase.

Four overload options are offered, while three additional slots expand the range of possible applications. Functional safety up to PLe/SIL3 guarantees operation in situations ranging from simple emergency stops to complex press actuation.

Mitsubishi promises full backwards compatibility with the FR-A700 series.
