Yixing Haldenwanger Fine Ceramics, located in Yixing, China, a division of ceramic component manufacturer, Morgan Technical Ceramics, has won two large orders for fused silica rollers from kiln manufacturers in China and Japan. The orders, for more than 1,500 rollers in total, reflect the current rise in the global plasma screen market which is predicted to grow to 14.3 million units worldwide by 2010 – a growth of 250% on 2005 figures.
Since the expansion of the company’s facility last year, and commissioning of new fused silica production lines, the company has received many orders for its rollers. They are used to safely and reliably transport the plasma PDP glass in and out of kilns for the tempering and heating process. The company manufactures a range of standard fused silica rollers, up to 100mm in diameter and 3,500mm in length, as well as custom built rollers including some hollow designs.
The ceramic rollers developed by Yixing Haldenwanger are used all over the world and are renowned for their durability in a wide range of specialist applications. As well as fused silica rollers, which are also used in temper furnaces that manufacture flat safety glass for the construction industry, the company manufactures alumina-silicate rollers (Sillimantin) that are used in roller kilns for the firing of, for example, wall and floor tiles.
