Cognex has introduced VisionPro to the UK, an ActiveX-based, graphical
programming environment for fast prototyping of machine vision
applications. What might once have taken weeks using C++, now takes days,
according to John Lee, a US-based systems integrator and user of the new
software. VisionPro's 'drag-and-drop' graphical interface greatly speeds
the development of vision applications, thanks to its ActiveX compliance.
Once configured, these ActiveX controls are easily converted into Visual
Basic for direct deployment in an application, or customised in Visual
Basic or C++. The COM/ActiveX architecture also facilitates the import of
third party components which are ActiveX compliant, allowing process
controllers, I/O blocks and other machine control devices to be easily
added to the vision application.
