Transdev to distribute Italian group, CHT's gearboxes in UK

Transdev has signed an exclusive UK distribution agreement for worm gearboxes and gearmotors from the Italian manufacturer CHT (Chiaravalli Trasmissioni S.p.A). The range covers power ratings from 90 W to 7.5 kW, is dimensionally interchangeable with other market-leading Italian brands and offers a highly reliable and competitive alternative for power transmission applications in printing, packaging, food and chemical processing, materials handling, business equipment and a host of other general purpose uses.

The right-angled gearboxes are available in nine models with single or double, solid input shafts on 25 mm to 130 mm centre distances supplied as stand-alone units or for motor mounting with standard B5 and B14 flanges. Nominal torque ratings are up to 14 Nm for the smallest frame model unit and are up to 650 Nm for the largest. Thanks to an innovative modular design, standard units feature mounting surfaces on all faces allowing several flange and foot mounting positions. Within the range there is ample scope for special motor adapters and all units have hollow keyed output shafts with an optional “plug-in” single or double output shaft kit. A range of shaft bushings may be specified to adapt the units to existing applications and torque arms are available for all frame sizes.

With gear ratios available throughout the range from 7.5:1 to 100:1 and with optional pre-stage reduction modules of up to 3:1, total reduction ratios up to 300:1 are possible. In addition, gear units may be combined for up to 2400:1 reduction. Complete specifications with installation and operational instructions are detailed in a 30-page catalogue available in hard copy or as a downloadable PDF from Transdev.
Aluminium housings are used on the smaller units with sealed-for-life lubrication whilst the larger units have cast iron housings and are oil-filled requiring a lubrication programme suited to ambient temperature conditions.

A range of 4-pole, three-phase, Eff2 motors with continuous service ratings to IEC 34-1 are available for use with the gearboxes. With B5 and B14 flanges and IEC power ratings to 7.5 kW, these motors will provide a cost effective solution for demanding applications. Supplied as IP55 rated motors in a closed design with external surface ventilation, forced ventilation kits for higher duty applications are available. 2-pole and 6-pole, higher efficiency and other specialist requirements are also available on request.
