National Instruments announces date for London NIDay

National Instruments UK & Ireland is hosting NIDays 2006, its popular, annual professional development conference for engineers, in association with the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology), at the home of the IET, Savoy Place, on Tuesday 31st October 2006. Hundreds of engineers, scientists and industry experts from across the UK and Ireland will gather at this free, one-day multi-track event to learn how the latest developments in computer-based measurement and automation increase productivity and lower cost through virtual instrumentation. NIDays offers hands-on training, in-depth technical sessions covering the latest in test, control and design – including new National Instruments LabVIEW 8.20, the 20th Anniversary edition of its award-winning graphical system design software, and NI CompactDAQ, its new USB data acquisition platform - and demonstrations of innovative uses of virtual instrumentation.

During the conference, delegates will exchange ideas on innovative approaches to technical challenges, study future technology trends in virtual instrumentation and explore three core technology themes: software development technologies; data acquisition, instrumentation and test; and real-time control. Conference attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about the latest NI software and hardware innovations – including LabVIEW 8.20, PCI/PXI Express and the NI PXI-5152, a 2 GS/s digitiser/oscilloscope. These products offer greater flexibility, faster development and increased system performance. Additionally, delegates will get to see the new LEGO Mindstorms NXT – Powered by NI LabVIEW, and will hear from experts on the hottest industry topics during the keynote presentation, entitled Graphical System Design: Virtual Instrumentation Evolved, and technical sessions, including:
· What’s New in LabVIEW 8.20?
· Machine Monitoring for the Masses: What Your Equipment Wants to Tell You
· Evaluating PCI Express and Multicore Processor Technology for Test and Measurement
· Head-to-Head Instrument Control Bus Comparison: GPIB, PCI, PCI Express,USB and Ethernet/LAN
· Effective Signal Processing Algorithm Implementation with LabVIEW and MathScript
· New USB Data Acquisition: As Easy as it is Powerful
· Introduction to using LabVIEW for Control Design and Simulation
· Tips and Tricks to Improve LabVIEW Performance
· Designing Custom Hardware with LabVIEW FPGA
· Methods for Benchmarking and Optimising Real-Time Applications
· Electronics Workbench – Improve Design Productivity with Multisim Simulation and LabVIEW Measurements
· Implementing RF and Wireless Communications Applications with LabVIEW
· Build a Complete Automated Test System from Scratch
· NI LabVIEW Embedded System Design for ADI Blackfin and Other Embedded Hardware

Delegates can also: sit down informally with a qualified consultant to discuss their application in ‘Meet the Engineer’ sessions; customise their conference experience through introductory, intermediate and advanced sessions; build application development expertise through hands-on sessions such as Introduction to LabVIEW and Introduction to Real-Time; discuss membership, training and professional development with IET personnel; visit the NIDays exhibition, where Technology and Alliance Partners, including Tektronix, Analog Devices, Amfax and Electronics Workbench, will be showcased; and join NI in celebrating the 30 years of National Instruments excellence and 20 years of LabVIEW innovation.
