HBM has launched a Trend Analysis module for its catman Enterprise software. The module improves accuracy when evaluating mechanical structural changes, and enables designers to react quickly to problems and analyse potential weaknesses in detail without the expense of additional test equipment. Applications include fatigue tests on large mechanical structures, such as aerospace components, using strain gauges. Fatigue testing typically involves hundreds or even several thousands of channels with all forces, displacements or pressures being acquired. Data can be examined in real time, allowing structural weaknesses to be forecast at an early stage before the onset of failure.
