SolidWorks has launched an online initiative to promote the financial and creative advantages of using its SolidWorks 3D CAD software for consumer product design. Consumer product and industrial designers are invited to learn more about the benefits of designing in 3D, and some of the specific features SolidWorks has identified as being important in this marketplace, by visiting www.solidworks.co.uk/consumer.
The new website showcases a range of award winning UK designs and allows visitors to take a virtual tour of SolidWorks 2007, as well as download case studies and white papers and sign up for a free demonstration.
“All designers understand the need for 3D CAD solutions that will help take their ideas through from concept to manufacture, but some are suspicious of the technology itself, fearing it will stand in the way of their creativity,” says Chris McManus, SolidWorks country manager, UK & Ireland . “We have always worked hard to deliver software that enables designers to work the way they want to, supporting their creativity – never hampering it – and ultimately design better products as a result. The products featured on the new site show just how well SolidWorks software is supporting designers in some of the UK’s leading consumer product development teams.”
The new online resource underlines SolidWorks’ commitment to the consumer product market, and communicates the advantages its leading-edge technology can offer the industry. SolidWorks software streamlines the product development process by providing unrivalled solutions for sketch and 3D geometry import, 3D concept development, detailed design, visualisation, simulation, communication and manufacture – all within a single, integrated environment.
The new site features an interactive gallery of designs from DCA, Andrew Lang, Curventa Designworks, Tom Dixon and PI3. Products featured include a multi-award winning bicycle storage solution and a new Tom Dixon chair to be launched at the 100% Design exhibition in September.
