A high performance microstepping driver for controlling two- and four-phase stepper motors has been introduced by Astrosyn International Technology. The low cost P402 features an advanced bipolar constant-current chopper circuit with current control technology.
Able to drive four, six or eight lead motors, the RoHS compliant unit offers 14 step resolutions up to 25 600 steps/revolution.
Drive current is adjustable from a relatively low 0.25 A through to 2.0 A, with supply voltage from 14 to 40 Vdc. Mixed-decay current control minimises motor operating temperatures.
Measuring a compact 95 x 76 x 44.5 mm (W x H x D), the P402 is the solution for demanding applications where low noise, low vibration, high speed and high precision are required.
Other features include an integral heatsink, overcurrent, overvoltage and short circuit protection, and automatic idle current reduction.
