New Lenze geared motors offer very wide speed range

The new Lenze g500 range of aluminium geared motors offers an outstanding capacity for wide output speed range, both for fixed speed mains supply and variable speed inverter control.

The range covers powers from 60W up to 7.5kW with output torque up to 650Nm. As well as helical gearboxes, there are shaft mounted helicals with a hollow output shaft and helical bevels where the output is at 90° to the input.

The innovative design of the g500 allows both 2 and 3 stages of gearing to fit into the same casing without changing external dimensions. Thus in the same mounting space a very wide range of ratios is possible.

As an example, with the 210Nm output helical gearbox, 2-stage ratios of between 3.3 and 61 and 3-stage ratios from 43 to 319 are standard. Add in the option of 2-, 4- and 6-pole motors and the resulting output speed range is from 7 to 800rpm with standard selections. Machine design-ers can therefore choose the same size of gearbox for multiple tasks and benefit from the same mounting dimensions.

Where variable speed operation with inverter drives is required, Lenze offer the MF range of inverter optimised motors. These are based on standard asynchronous de-signs modified to run at a set point of 120Hz.

By adding a blower these motors can deliver full rated torque over a speed range from 5 to 120Hz, equivalent to 24:1. Fur-thermore the higher speed increases the motor power, allowing a reduction in frame size. An output of 3.0kW, for example, is achieved in an 80 frame motor.

The g500 aluminium geared motors are new for 2014 with a full range of motor and mounting options. Latest design, materials and machining have reduced sizes and weight by up to 40 percent whilst achieving efficiency of 94 percent or more.
