The new 110,000 square feet, state-of-the-art facility at Birmingham, which can accommodate almost every type of aircraft, supports the continuing growth of MAEL’s aircraft engineering activities, with a hangar large enough to accommodate two Boeing 777-300ER aircraft or ten narrow bodied aircraft.

Some150 new jobs have been created in its making, with the potential to add a further 150 posts, including several new apprentice positions as part of MAEL’s apprenticeship scheme, which is now in its 42nd year. With some 60 percent of the world’s airlines outsourcing heavy maintenance work, MAEL is set to service a greater share of the market and plans a 40 percent increase in turnover over the next two years.

The workstations, situated in close proximity to the aircraft, are an integral part of an efficient 'zonal station' operational system MAEL has developed, and are where aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul teams are assigned their tasks and allocated tools and equipment via the Wi-Fi connected stations.

Built to MAEL’s specifications as mother and extension stations for seated and standing use, the four design types utilise MiniTec’s Profile System aluminium framing system to the full with a complement of standard modular components as well as third-party electronic equipment that is easily integrated into the assembly with standard MiniTec adapters.

A generous 2m by 1.2m inclined working surface is finished in a durable high-density plastic sheet material from TRESPA which is impervious to the chemicals and compounds encountered in the aircraft industry. Each workstation supplied includes a power inlet and multi-way distribution boards, a Wi-Fi router, brackets for 32in and/or 24in data displays, and document holders.

The fully portable units use lockable swivel castors and the metal end and rear panels are finished with Monarch’s corporate livery and logos for a smart and aesthetic appearance that perfectly blends with the exceptionally clean MAEL work areas.

The MiniTec modular Profile System is available in a wide choice of extruded aluminium rail sections with a comprehensive range of components and accessory elements that suit use for complete workstations as well as machine frames, guards, assembly & test equipment, conveying & handling systems and almost any modular frame system that needs to be built quickly and efficiently.

Profile System assemblies may be user designed with the aid of the free of charge iCAD Assembler software - available for standalone use with no CAD knowledge required - or used as an integral part of the users preferred CAD software. MiniTec UK also offers a design and build service which can include site assembly if required.

A wide range of standard accessories enable cost effective workstations designs from simple benches, tables and desks to complete functionally designed production cells with tool holders, component storage, lighting systems, automated work height adjustment and all components necessary for user-friendly and highly efficient process lines.
