Compact and efficient servo gearboxes

The new Vogel SK range of spiral bevel gearboxes are designed for servo motors in mechanical handling, packaging and robotic applications. Delivered in the UK through Lenze Limited, these gearboxes are available in four sizes for rated output torques 70 to 550 Nm and emergency stop torques 200 to 2750 Nm. Ratios are exact to allow precise positioning, with single stage models covering ratios of 3 to 10, two stage models 12 to 100.

These compact right angle gearboxes are easy to integrate into machine designs. Output can be with a male or hollow shaft, or a flange connection often used in robotics for short build lengths. Servo motors with shafts from 9 to 28mm can be directly connected using a backlash free locking bush and input speeds up to 7500r/min are acceptable.

Where minimum backlash is required, for example on positioning or reversing applications, the SK gearbox scores highly. Standard backlash at the output shaft is a maximum of 5 arcmins and on request this can be reduced to a maximum of 3 arcmins. A further standard option is a hollow output shaft with an external locking bush that eliminates the play that comes from keyed connections.
