A compact and highly adaptable optical encoder is now available from EAO. The Grayhill 62S optical encoder measures just 12.7mm square with a behind-panel depth of 7.5mm, making it one of the smallest optical encoders of its type on the market. Despite the compact dimensions, the standard 62S optical encoder can be quickly and easily adapted, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, including medical and test equipment, driver information systems, and precision instrumentation.
The 62S optical encoder can be adapted for different operator environments. The resolution will accommodate between 4 and 32 positions. To change the feel of the controls, the rotational torque can be varied to accommodate different knob sizes. When fitted with the optional integral push button, the push button force can also be adjusted.
The 62S optical encoder offers advantages over its mechanical counterparts: no de-bouncing is needed during set-up; there’s a longer life-cycle of one million rotational cycles, or three million for non-detent styles.
EAO can supply this optical encoder with terminal pins for mounting direct to a PCB or with cable terminations. It can also supply it as part of a larger control panel solution, delivered fully-wired and ready to integrate within larger equipment.
