Battery-Backed Ps Can Be Remotely Interrogated

A range of switch-mode power supplies featuring integral microcontroller and a choice of communications interfaces is now available from Bulgin Power Source. Primarily aimed at battery-backed mission-critical applications, Oracle provides a 28V main output for powering the load together with a second output for charging an external standby battery. In the event of a mains failure, the battery supplies power to the load via an internal feed-forward diode. The unit can be specified with either an RS232 port or I2C interface. These communications facilities allow parameters such as under-voltage lockout and battery charging rate to be programmed, or output voltage and current to remotely interrogated. Oracle is available in 80W, 170W and 300W versions in Eurocard, chassis mounting or DIN-rail mounting mechanical formats.
