Eurotherm has signalled its ongoing commitment to the plastics industry with the announcement that its latest range of series 3200i indicators includes a melt pressure alarm unit, approved to DIN3440 through TUV in Germany. An international service company, TUV is responsible for documenting the safety and quality of both new and existing products, systems and services.
DIN3440 has two main requirements: firstly, after an alarm becomes active and then returns to a safe condition, it cannot be reset until acknowledged by an operator; secondly, that if the process input detects a fault the alarm should become active.
The 32h8i is a 1/8 DIN horizontal indicating alarm unit with scrolling text messaging, two relay outputs, digital IO and Modbus communications. Its process input can be either Strain Gauge for Melt Pressure or universal for other input types such as Thermocouple, RTD and 4-20mA. It also features an IP65 rating that guarantees its enclosure is protected against dust and water ingress in a variety of indoor and outdoor situations..
The other products in Eurotherm's 3200i range of indicators offer accurate indication of temperature and process measurements with DIN3440 alarming. These are suitable for use as over temperature trip alarms in ovens and furnaces.
At 1/16 DIN, the 3216i has all the same features of the 32h8i but with a universal input, up to three relay outputs and a non-isolated DC retransmission capability. The 1/4 DIN 3204i indicator has similar features.
The emphasis on all these products is ease of use. A simple 'quick start' code is used to configure all the functions that are essential for indicating and protecting the process. This includes input sensor type, measurement range and alarms - making out-of-the-box operation truly achievable.
