Maplesoft (Waterloo, Ontario), the leading provider of high-performance
software tools for engineering, science and mathematics, announced today
the availability of a port that allows its flagship product, Maple 10, to
run natively on new Apple Macintosh models that feature Intel Core
processors. Unveiled earlier this year, the Intel chips allow Mac users to
compute with increased speed and agility.
This new support is part of an all-platform maintenance update to Maple 10,
which along with the other products in the Maple range is available from
Maplesoft's distributor and support centre in the UK, Ireland and
Scandinavia, Adept Scientific.
Maple 10 is the most powerful and intuitive tool for solving complex
mathematical problems and creating rich, executable technical documents.
Maple users operating on the Intel-based Mac platform will benefit from
significantly reduced start-up times, improved speed in rendering 2-D
mathematics, and real-time 3-D plot manipulation that is both faster and
smoother. All of the capabilities of Maple are fully supported, affording
Intel-based Mac users access to all of the same features that PowerPC-based
Mac users enjoy.
"Individually, Apple and Intel offer industry-leading products," said
Maplesoft CEO Jim Cooper. "In combination, they enable Mac users to
experience the full power of Maple 10. With new levels of speed and
responsiveness, Maple is proud to provide the highest level of
computational power in mathematical modelling today."
Adds Dr Paul Bragg, Adept Scientific's Managing Director, "Maple continues
to offer the most advanced solutions, the most intuitive interface and the
best value for engineers, scientists, financial analysts, teachers and
anyone else whose work involves mathematical computations. In addition to
support for the latest Macintosh platform, maintenance update 10.04 also
delivers a number of significant improvements for people running Maple 10
on Windows, Linux and UNIX."
These include:
* Converting 2D maths to Maple input
* Document mode markers
* Corrected behaviour of higher powers of 2
* Improved export to HTML with 2D maths equations
* Improvements to the display of procedures written in 2D maths
Existing Maple 10 users will receive the 10.04 via the update feature in
Maple 10; alternatively, it will be available for download at
www.adeptscience.co.uk. Customers upgrading from earlier versions of Maple,
and new purchasers of the software, will automatically receive this latest
version.
