New bevel geared motors with disconnect clutch

Aimed at the overhead conveyor market, the new Lenze GKK geared motors are efficient in energy consumption as well as easy for operators to use. These helical bevel geared motors are available in 4 sizes with output torques from 70 to 900Nm. All models feature a manually operated disconnect clutch. The gearbox design is compact and able to withstand high radial loads. Other applications are with powered trolleys, conveyors and other mechanical handling equipment where the manual disconnect function can be useful.

The helical bevel gear design gives running efficiencies above 95%. This results not only in energy saving, but also in low tooth wear leading to a long maintenance free life. Noise levels are low and output torques are smooth and vibration free. The other gearbox
design feature is acceptance of the high radial loads found in overhead conveyors. Forces up to 36000N can be accepted.

At times it can be necessary to move a carriage on a powered overhead conveyor by hand. Usually brake motors are fitted so some form of manual release is needed.
The GKK gearbox design has an efficient manual disconnect clutch that operates on the gears within the gearbox. The operating lever is mounted on the end face for easy access, and actuation forces are low. The clutch effectively disconnects the motor from the output shaft. Together with the efficient bevel final gearing, this means it is easy for operators to move a carriage by hand.

Lenze are also able to supply decentralised control systems for overhead conveyors though their subsidiary Lenze DETO. Either tracked or inductive power transmission systems are possible together with intelligent inverter based controllers.
