Parker hoses awarded Lloyds Register type approval

Parker Hannifin’s high performance industrial hoses for use with fuel and mineral oils have now been awarded Lloyd’s Register Type Approval for the leisure marine market, to certify conformity of the products to EN ISO 7840. Lloyd’s Register Type Approval is an impartial certification service that provides independent third-party recognition that a product conforms to specific standards or specifications, and verification of an appropriate production quality system. The type Approval is based on design review and type testing or, where type testing is inappropriate, a design analysis.

The standard itself, EN ISO 7840, specifies general requirements and physical tests for fire-resistant hoses that convey petrol and diesel oil, designed for a working pressure not exceeding 0.34 Mpa, for hoses with a nominal bore up to and including 10 mm and 0.25 Mpa, and for hoses with a larger bore in craft of hull length up to 24 m. In particular, EN ISO 7840 applies to hoses for small craft with permanently installed fuel systems.

The hoses that have just been awarded Lloyd’s Register Type Approval include:
 Carburite, designed for the suction and delivery of mineral oils and fuels in road and rail tankers, service stations and refineries.
 Carbopress, designed for dispensing metered quantities of automotive fuels from dispensing equipment such as petrol pumps.
 Carbocord, for the delivery of oil and fuel with an aromatic content not exceeding 50%.
 SM/TR 311, designed and approved for use in water cooling exhaust gas systems and also as a fire resistant hose for craft.
 SM/TR 311 OND, a highly flexible version of SM/TR 311.
