Engineering companies on film

In our first video newsletter we ask: how do engineering companies get themselves on film? Guest columnist,  Roland Renshaw, explains how.

The first question to answer is the most commonly asked question; how much does it cost?

The answer is that for a professionally made movie of around 3mins duration that describes your company, a products or service typically varies from around £1,200 to £3,500 depending on location and complexity.

Will it benefit your business, bearing in mind you may sell a niche product or provide a very specialised service? Well, yes, but you have to have a vehicle for promoting and distributing the movie once you have produced it, otherwise no-one will see it and you won’t reap any reward from having made it.

Your company website, a publisher such as IML and YouTube are a good start. How much difference will it make? Here at Maintainit.TV we have made simple instructional movies that show how a product works and the benefits that can be gained from using it which have generated hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of sales. Usually it’s tens of thousands, depending on the cost and nature of the product.

An interesting subject helps, but whatever you sell, someone will be looking for it on the internet and if they see a movie about it, they will almost always watch that first, the rest, as they say, is inevitable...
