NEW STAINLESS STEEL CAM LATCHES PROVIDE ADDED VALUE FOR CORROSION-RESISTANT APPLICATIONS

The addition of stainless steel constructions to the popular line of Southco E5 Industrial Series Fixed Grip Cam Latches creates new options for latching applications requiring corrosion-resistant performance in an attractive package. The new stainless steel latches offer 1/4-turn opening convenience, deliver robust and reliable performance, and provide excellent aesthetics to complement virtually any equipment or enclosure. Available in both 304 SS and 316 SS grades, these stylish latches deliver corrosion-resistant performance for high-visibility applications such as bus and rail transit; food, medical, and vending equipment; and a variety of industrial machinery and enclosures. Each latch also features an internal O-ring and an external sealing washer to meet NEMA 4 and IP-66 performance standards for wet, outdoor, or hose-down applications. The latches have been tested to a minimum of 10,000 cycles and 500 hours of exposure to salt-fog spray. The availability of these latches in 316 stainless steel grade provides extra corrosion resistance, aesthetics and robustness.
The tool-actuated latches present a low profile – only 5 mm above the mounting surface – for minimal protrusion. They are available in a variety of headstyles to offer different degrees of user access to equipment – including common slotted and hex socket styles, industry-specific tool-access styles such as Bellcore and Railway Standard configurations. Each headstyle includes a cam indicator to signify the latch status – open or closed. A large variety of offset cam options is readily available to satisfy grip dimensions ranging from 4 mm to 42 mm. The integral ramping action on each cam provides about 2 mm of compression, and a spring-loaded design provides additional grip tolerance and vibration resistance. An optional housing with a detent is also available to provide extra protection against accidental opening and vibration. All Southco E5 Industrial Series Latches fit door panels ranging from 1 mm to 6 mm thick. Like all Southco E5 Industrial Series Latches, the new stainless steel models are shipped with the latch housings fully assembled to save time and installation costs in applications with sufficient clearance for the assembled latch to slip through the mounting hole. Available accessories include pull tabs that provide a convenient grip for opening doors, and padlock brackets for locking security.
