LG Motion Ltd is a new motion control and automation systems company, aiming to provide innovative and cost effective solutions for demanding applications in science and industry. The extensive range includes machine building components, mechanical positioning equipment, distributed servo drives and leading-edge motion control systems. LG Motion will be providing OEM’s and machine builders with comprehensive solutions from individual component supply to a complete design/build service with full project management, customised mechanical and electrical manufacturing capability.
With a new manufacturing facility in Basingstoke, LG Motion is looking to supply the UK and European markets for such diverse applications as electronics and semiconductor production, automated handling and assembly machines, pick & place systems, packaging and processing machinery, laboratory and scientific research equipment.
LG Motion’s product range is based upon a small number of specialist motion control and positioning systems suppliers combined with in-house design, manufacture, service and support to prove that the combined sum is greater than the individual parts.
At the heart of the LG Motion range is Agile Systems Inc, a Canadian based designer and manufacturer of Digital Motor Control and Distributed Servo Products using patented digitalPOWERTM technology to create small form factor products for OEM and individual applications. Distributed Servo products include the the MAXTM which combines multiple networks such as IEEE1394, Interbus, CAN, RS485, and RS232 with servo amplifiers and motion controllers that allow manufacturers to mount the servo controls within the machine.
Mechanical positioning system solutions at LG motion are based on the Unislide® and BiSlide® assemblies. Unislide is a long established, simple, strong and durable positioning table design based upon a unique rigid dovetail bearing system in a lightweight aluminium construction. The modular range has extremely low maintenance, a high degree of corrosion resistance and is non-magnetic. Available in manual and motorised versions, in both single and multi-axis combination, the Unislide range is manufactured in the UK by LG Motion for the European market. With sales of more than one million units worldwide, a wide range of standard and customised models and options are available with short lead times and competitive pricing.
The BiSlide range of motorised linear positioning tables is based upon an extruded "I"-beam aluminium profile with dual 45 degree opposing guideways that provide maximum rigidity regardless of the load direction. The low maintenance, carriage mounted PTFE bearing system requires no lubrication. The fully adjustable bearing system is also self cleaning and impact tolerant with the heavy duty acme screw with StabilNut™ drive system ensuring low-backlash positioning for a wide range of applications. Designed for maximum stiffness and strength, each BiSlide can mount directly to another BiSlide for multi-axis configurations in almost any position or orientation, with bolts and cleats for fast and simple assembly. Integrated "T" slots allow additional mounting options for tooling and other machine building components. BiSlides are an alternative to the UniSlide range for higher loading, medium duty applications and are delivered within two weeks from order.
LG Motion designs and manufactures its own range of linear and rotary positioning tables for higher precision applications and will supply individual components or complete systems with on-site installation and commissioning if required.
LG Motion is also a sister company to MiniTec UK Ltd, the new UK subsidiary of MiniTec Maschinenbau GmbH. Providing application support, custom manufacturing and an installation service for its wide range of modular profile and machine building systems, MiniTec applications range from machine frames and guards to complete assembly lines and multi-axis positioning systems. The MiniTec range allows LG Motion to easily and competitively provide complete automated machine building solutions for their customers.
The new company is headed by Managing Director, Gary Livingstone who has worked within the motion industry for more than 18 years. Gary has extensive applications and commercial experience with UniSlide, BiSlide, Agile Systems and MiniTec products; gained by working closely with customers across a broad range of markets and applications. Gary has formed a small but highly experienced team of designers, application engineers, manufacturing and support staff to ensure that customers are provided with realistic and competitive application solutions. There are plans and a strong commitment to ensure that LG Motion’s maxim, “Motion solutions for the professional” will become an industry recognised reputation.
